Welcome Dr. Alexander Ramos
Our team is excited to announce Dr. Alexander Ramos has joined Columbia Neurosurgery.
Dr. Ramos is a fellowship-trained endovascular neurosurgeon. He dedicates his practice to diseases of the cerebrovascular system and diseases treated with minimally invasive image-guided procedures. His expertise includes brain hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and fistulas, venous sinus stenosis, vertebral body fractures, and stroke. He obtained his MD and PhD from the University of California, San Francisco, completed his neurosurgical residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell medical center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and completed additional fellowship training at Weill Cornell. His research focuses on developing new techniques for the delivery of therapeutics to the central nervous system.

On his early interest in neurosurgery, Dr. Ramos states, "I specifically became interested in endovascular neurosurgery because I felt that it was the most rapidly expanding and exciting field of neurosurgery. We started with treating vascular lesions and are now expanding into treatment of things as varied as subdural hematoma, IIH, and brain tumors."
Dr. Ramos is looking forward to helping to expand the endovascular practice here and collaborate to expand the indications for endovascular treatment of vascular and non-vascular pathologies.
Outside of the hospital, he enjoys like cycling and more recently running. Dr. Ramos just completed his first marathon last year.
