The New York Times captured Department Chair, Dr. Robert Solomon and his wife Barbara celebrating at Columbia’s recent Crown Awards dinner held at the Plaza Hotel. Their photo appeared in the October 17 edition of Bill Cunningham’s Evening Hours column (see photo # 6 below).
This was the first annual Crown Awards dinner to honor donors to Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. and Mrs. Roy Vagelos and Herbert and Florence Irving were the honorees for their major gifts to the university.
Dr. Solomon said, “This was a great evening to celebrate the research accomplishments and clinical excellence that has come from the collaboration of the medical school faculty and the major friends and donors of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.”
