Dr. Jeffrey Bruce was so pleased this month to hear from his dear patient and long-time cancer survivor, Richard Heimler.
Without a doubt, Mr. Heimler has had a harrowing journey. Ten years ago he was diagnosed with lung cancer that eventually spread to his brain. Since 2004, he has battled valiantly through seven cancer recurrences and despite all this, he beams with life and hope.
Mr. Heimler has become an outspoken advocate for those suffering with lung cancer, a disease with few survivors.
In celebration of ten years of survival, Mr. Heimler created a short film, Richard’s Rays of Hope, to tell his story and give hope to others. Watch his film; it will make you laugh and cry, and you will be inspired when you see what he does with his old X-Rays.
Mr. Heimler’s neurosurgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Bruce, is Co-Director of the Brain Tumor Center at Columbia University Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Bruce is a leading authority on complex tumors of the brain and skull base.
