Dr. Evan Johnson is the Director of Physical Therapy and Administrative Director of The Spine Hospital at New York Presbyterian Hospital in the Department of Neurosurgery. He is an Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s College of Physician & Surgeons and holds appointments in the departments of Rehabilitative and Regenerative Medicine, Neurosurgery and Anesthesiology. He teaches physical examination, manual therapies and therapeutic exercise related to the spine and extremities in Columbia University’s Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy, as well as Columbia University Medical Center’s Pain Medicine and Sports Medicine Fellowships.
Dr. Johnson received his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy with honors from Columbia University’s Program in Physical Therapy, and he received a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy with a clinical specialization in manual therapy from the University of St. Augustine. Dr. Johnson has numerous peer-reviewed publications related to the biomechanics of manual therapy, nervous system mobility, physical examination techniques and spinal stabilization in athletes.
