On the heels of his previous work on the Standards of Practice for Ischemic stroke, Dr. Philip Meyers, President-Elect of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS), has co-authored another set of outcome-based standards.
Dr. Meyers, representing Columbia University Medical Center, has been joined by authors from 14 other medical centers across the country in devising this new set of standards for the endovascular treatment of blood vessel malformations and tumors of the spine.
An article outlining the new standards of practice has been published in Volume 5, Issue 1 of the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery. The article is titled, Standard of practice: embolization of spinal arteriovenous fistulae, spinal arteriovenous malformations, and tumors of the spinal axis (read the article online here).
