Neurosurgeon and pain specialist, Dr. Christopher Winfree had a fun opportunity to share his expertise with neurosurgeons in training recently at a course put on by The Society of Neurological Surgeons (SNS).
The two-day Boot Camp In Fundamental Skills was held in mid July at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, and about 35 students from across the country took part.
“In the picture [at left],” Dr. Winfree says,”I am demonstrating the technique for the placement of a lumbar subarachnoid drain, used to drain cerebrospinal fluid. The student standing is Brian Gill, one of our new Columbia residents.”
Dr. Winfree is on the SNS Subcommittee on Boot Camp Courses, along with fellow Columbia neurosurgeon, Dr. E. Sander Connolly, and he said the class went off without a hitch. ” The students this year were enthusiastic and we all had a lot of fun.”
