Summer is coming up and once again, our docs are in full swing preparing for the annual Neurosurgery Charity Softball Tournament. The date is set for Saturday, June 7, 2014 in New York City’s Central Park. Now in its 11th year, the tournament sees hundreds of players and spectators come out for a fun day raising money for the Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation, a non-profit whose mission is “to support research and education efforts that enhance and confirm the critical role neurosurgeons play in improving lives.” What began with Columbia’s Department of Neurosurgery and just a handful of other teams, has turned into more than 30 teams representing the top neurosurgical institutes from across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. By Mayoral Proclamation, game day has been declared Neurosurgery Charity Softball Tournament Day in the City of New York. The games are made possible by a slew of volunteers and sponsors including the Yankees and The Department of Neurosurgery at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Jeffrey Bruce, from Columbia’s Brain Tumor Center, is Co-Director of the the tournament this year and, Aileen Casanova, who works with Dr. Bruce, is organizing the entire event. You can contact Aileen about sponsorship opportunities. Learn more about the tournament at www.neurocharitysoftball.org or make a donation here. Related:
