Spring is in the air! It’s the time of year when many of our Columbia neurosurgeons head off to the annual meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).
This year the AANS meeting has the added benefit of being held in warm, sunny Los Angeles—a treat after our recent cold New York winter.
Every year neurosurgeons from around the globe gather with their colleagues to learn about, and share, the latest developments in neurosurgery. This year 10 Columbia neurosurgeons will share their work as they direct courses, moderate seminars and lead practical clinics at the meeting.
This year’s theme, A World of Innovation, suits the innovative research work our doctors have been doing in areas such as awake brain mapping and deep brain stimulation.
In addition to discussing innovations in the science and practice of neurosurgery, our doctors will be there to help foster the next generation of neurosurgeons by participating in sessions to help medical students and residents become better doctors and leaders.
Keep an eye out as we bring you more stories about our doctors’ activities at the 85th annual AANS meeting!
