Physical Therapy

At the Columbia Presbyterian Spine Center we pride ourselves in providing the highest quality comprehensive care for our patients throughout the entire course of treatment. To this end, we offer physical therapy with our nationally recognized physical therapists. Our dedication to excellence is reflected in our therapists’ leadership roles as educators, researchers and advanced clinicians.

When you embark on a course of physical therapy for back or neck pain at The Spine Center you can anticipate one-on-one individualized treatment from our manually trained therapists.  We will utilize all available modalities to control your pain, while we educate you on how to modify your activities to minimize painful symptoms.

Your therapist will assess and treat any restrictions in motion through soft tissue and spinal mobilization. Restoration of normal neck and back motion will enable you to actively pursue greater health and function. You will now be an active participant in your own healing process. Once your pain is under control, we utilize individualized therapeutic exercise to increase your flexibility and help you achieve your optimal posture. Strengthening of the inner core of musculature that supports your trunk and neck enables you to maintain your ideal body alignment throughout the day. At this point, you and your therapist will engage in a neuromuscular reeducation process. You are ready to re-learn the movement patterns that prevent perpetuation of your injury and pain. In this phase of treatment full restoration to the lifestyle of your choosing is our goal.

This integration of cutting edge technology, manual techniques, individualized therapeutic exercise, and movement reeducation, under the umbrella of one of the nation’s finest teaching hospitals, offers you a unique opportunity to treat your current symptoms and prevent recurrence of your condition. Please contact us if you would like to schedule a physical therapy appointment.
