Diagnostic Tests

In order to formulate the best treatment plan for you, your healthcare team at the Spine Center will take a complete medical history and perform a physical examination. In addition, your physician may use a variety of diagnostic tests to investigate the source of your pain.

Laboratory analyses include blood and urine tests and – in special cases – electrophysiology.

Diagnostic radiology is the process of creating images of the body and its internal organs. These techniques can include the use of x-rays, electromagnetic waves, sound waves, special dyes, or small amounts of radionuclides to help visualize various parts of the body. Some of the most commonly performed radiographic tests at the Spine Center include:

bullet X-rays
bullet Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)
bullet Myelogram
bullet Discogram
bullet Computerized Tomography(CT Scan)
bullet Bone Density Test

Diagnostic imaging techniques are generally non-invasive: no incision must be made in the body to perform the imaging. However, diagnostic radiology can be used as an aid in conjunction with other invasive treatment procedures.
