Mary Isaacson is a registered nurse, licensed in the state of New York, with twenty-nine years of clinical nursing experience at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Mary has served as Head Nurse of the Orthopedic inpatient unit, Clinical Nurse for Medical and Surgical Specialty Clinics, and Clinical Research Study Coordinator for the Liver Clinic within the Irving Center for Clinical Research.
As Clinical Coordinator of the Spine Center, Ms. Isaacson performs triage of new patients and coordinates pre- and post-operative patient care including patient education, discharge planning, and needs assessment. She is also responsible for providing clinical information and concurrent review to insurers. She has assumed the role of Clinical Research Study Coordinator for the Spine Center’s evidence based and clinical outcome analysis research studies.
Ms. Isaacson most strongly identifies with the patient advocacy aspect of nursing. She feels that patients and family members often require assistance and compassion in the navigation of the health-illness continuum.
