Dr. Goodman’s largely focuses on the surgical treatment of epilepsy (sometimes associated with brain tumors or cavernous malformations), movement disorders (including Parkinson’s Disease, Essential Tremor and Dystonia), Trigeminal Neuralgia and Hydrocephalus.
For the surgical treatment of epilepsy, Dr. Goodman works closely with a highly experienced and dedicated multidisciplinary team of professionals in Columbia’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. This involves state-of-the-art evaluations and surgical techniques, and the center participates in trials of new surgical therapies that may improve on existing approaches.
For the surgical treatment of Movement Disorders, Dr. Goodman works closely with a similar highly experienced and dedicated team of professionals in Columbia’s Center for Movement Disorders Surgery.
Dr. Goodman has had extensive experience with Deep Brain Stimulation treatment, since it became available in the USA in 1997, and he understands the critical value of teaming with experienced neurologists for the proper evaluation of prospective patients and to optimize their postoperative care. Dr. Goodman devotes extensive efforts to improve on the surgical techniques in this area.
