The three part conference was held this year in Athens, Greece and two locations in Turkey;Istanbul and Izmir.

Dr. E. Sander Connolly from the Cerebrovascular Center is the Society’s Secretary/Treasurer and acted as Scientific Presentation Moderator during the event.

Dr. Michael Sisti from the Gamma Knife Center gave a talk entitled, Saving Face in which he summarized a 10 year project involving nearly four hundred treated cases of acoustic neuromas. His research has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Neurosurgery.

Also in Attendance were: Department Chair Dr. Robert Solomon*; Dr. Richard C.E. Anderson from the Pediatric Neurosurgery Center; Dr. Jeffrey Bruce * from the Brain Tumor Center ; Dr. Sean LaVine * from the Cerebrovascular Center & Endovascular Center; and  Dr. Donald O. Quest and Dr. Michael G. Kaiser,*from the Spine Center.

Dr. Christopher Winfree

Dr. Christopher Winfree from the Pain Center and Peripheral Nerve Center became Chairman of the Joint Section on Pain at the recent meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).

He was also active in three separate sessions during the annual meeting:

  1. Faculty at a Practical Clinic on Peripheral Nerve Injuries entitled, where he spoke about the Evaluation of Entrapments and Tumors.
  2. Moderator at a Breakfast Seminar on Neuromodulation for Chronic Pain.
  3. Moderator during the joint Session of the AANS/CNS Section on Pain.
